GAMBA Zine, Brainwashing from Phone Towers, and Basement Babes will also be sharing their work during this time.

I have collaborated with both GAMBA Zine and Basement Babes and am delighted to share their work.  I also am excited/humbled to be in the same space as Sarah Nicholls; she’s an incredible artist and I have a huge respect and appreciation for her creative practice!

Basement Babes is a collection of art, writing and thoughts related to or inspired by feminism and Boston’s underground music. Borne out of a kick-ass female friendship, this zine aspires to create an inclusive creative space for people of all genders, races, sexualities and backgrounds who are interested in a more forward-thinking art community. Sarah Nicholls is a visual artist who makes pictures with language, books with pictures, prints with type, and animations with words. She often uses found language and metal type, combining image, visual narrative, and time. She has written a collection of self-help aphorisms, publishes a series of informational pamphlets, and is currently working on a field guide to extinct birds.

Opening Reception of Lilac Arts Series

Here are some photos I took before the opening night reception of the Lilac Arts Series and a photo of me taken by Nisa Ojalvo.  I have masks being displayed there currently.

I’m looking forward to a collaboration with photographer Nisa Ojalvo and an  artist talk on May 30th at 3Pm with Jenny Wong-Stanley.

The Lilac Arts Series is a contemporary art exhibition and public events series aboard the historic museum ship Lilac. The U.S. Coast Guard Cutter Lilac was built in 1933 and is America’s only surviving steam-powered lighthouse tender. The Lilac is currently being restored as a unique vehicle for maritime education and community activities and is berthed at Hudson River Park’s Pier 25 in New York City. The Lilac Arts Series will run from May 19 to August 15, 2015 and will focus on three themes inspired by the ship’s story – “Steam”, “Work + Labor” and “Restoration/Reinvention“.

Lilac Arts Series and Artist Talk

I will be exhibiting masks and giving an artist talk as part of the Lilac Arts Series.

The Lilac Arts Series is taking place aboard the historic museum ship Lilac, an industrial archaeological artifact. The Lilac is a 1933 lighthouse tender that once carried supplies to lighthouses and maintained buoys for the U.S.

The opening is Tuesday, May 19th, 6 PM.

I also will be giving an artist talk and mask making demo on Saturday, May 30th, at 3 PM.
